Ingredients

  • 1 liter Milk

  • 1/4 cup Rice

  • 5 tbsp Sugar

  • 1 tsp Cardamom powder

  • 1 tbsp Almonds

  • 1/2 tbsp Pistachio

Directions

  • In a heating pot, add milk 1 liter and boil it for 5-6 minutes on medium to high heat.
  • Add soaked rice (soaked in water for 30 minutes) 1/4 cup into the milk and stir it well – boil it for 20-22 minutes on medium to high heat.
  • Continuously stir to avoid the milk sticking to the sides and bottom of the pot.
  • Add sugar 5 tbsp into the milk and stir well. Gradually, the kheer will start getting thick and creamy.
  • When the mixture becomes thicker, add chopped almonds 1 tbsp, chopped pistachio 1/2 tbsp and mix the nuts well – give it a last boil for 2-3 minutes on medium to high heat.
  • The kheer is ready to serve. Serve it hot or refrigerate and serve it cold.

  • Any variety of dry fruit can be used.
  • Use full-fat milk for thicker and tastier kheer.
  • Adjust the amount of sugar according to your taste and flavor.
  • The kheer becomes thicker when it cools down after the cooking process.
