Vermicelli, as weird as the word sounds, can surprise you with the myriad of appetizing dishes it can produce. It is made of wheat flour and naturally contains iron, calcium, vitamin B, and several minerals. Vermicelli takes on different forms such as pasta, spaghetti, or noodles in different parts of the world. A flavorsome blend of vermicelli with other ingredients like milk and dry fruits can create a signature dish known as Doodh ki Sewaiyan (an Indian word that simply means ‘Milk Vermicelli’). They are a popular dessert in South Asian Countries and are often eaten first thing in the morning at the Muslim festival of Eid.

Milk Vermicelli – Watch simple and easy steps to make Milk Vermicelli at home now! 

Ingredients

  • 1+1/2 Cup Vermicelli Semolina Type

  • 3/4 Cup Sugar Brown

  • 3 Cups Milk 2%

  • 4 pcs Cardamom Crushed

  • 1 Tbsp Almonds Chopped

  • 1 Tbsp Raisins

  • 1 Tbsp Cashews Chopped

  • 2 Tbsp Butter Salted

  • Pistachio As Garnish

Directions

  • Take 2 Tbsp of salted butter in a heating pan.
  • As the butter melts, add chopped cashews 1 tbsp, Almonds 1 Tbsp, and Raisins 1 Tbsp and sauté them well for 2 minutes.
  • After sautéing, add vermicelli 1+1/2 Cup and stir it well until it turns a little brown, then keep the mixture aside to cool down.
  • Heat 3 cups of milk in a pan for about 10 minutes till it’s boiled, note to keep stirring while it boils.
  • After it is boiled, add crushed cardamom 4 pcs stir it well then add the sautéed vermicelli in it.
  • Keep stirring the mixture to avoid the bottom getting burnt, let the vermicelli cook for 7 – 8 minutes, and then add 3/4th Cup of sugar.
  • Keep stirring and let it cook for 5 minutes.
  • Now the vermicelli is ready to serve.

Notes

  • For people looking for more weight loss options, try to use vermicelli that’s made out of semolina (Sooji) instead of rice vermicelli. It would still taste the same – Delicious 🙂
