This tasty sweet dish is made from Suji/Semolina. Follow the easy & detailed steps to make delicious GULAB JAMUN at home!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Semolina

  • 2 cups Sugar

  • 1/4 tsp Cardamom powder

  • 1 tsp Butter

  • 3 cups Milk

  • 2 tbsp Sugar

Directions

  • In a heating fry pan, add fine semolina 1 cup and dry roast it for about 3-4 minutes on high flame till it gets aromatic. Continue stirring while heating to avoid burning at the bottom.
  • Switch off – take out the semolina onto a plate and keep aside for later side.
  • When the milk boils – add the roasted semolina into the milk gradually while stirring slowly.
  • Keep stirring the semolina continuously on medium flame. Cook till the semolina forms into a dough-like shape.
  • Once it’s thick and dough-like – switch off and let the semolina dough cool down. 
  • Knead the dough properly for 5 – 6 minutes until it gets soft-smooth – keep it aside for later use.
  • In a heating pot, add brown sugar 2 cups, water 2 cups, cardamom powder 1/4 tsp, and let it boil for about 10 – 12 minutes on high flame till the sugar syrup thickens.
  • Transfer the sugar syrup into a bowl and keep it aside.
  • Now take the kneaded semolina dough and make a round shape – Gulab jamun balls for frying.
  • In a heating pot, get the cooking oil ready for deep fry. Add the prepared Gulab jamun balls into the oil and deep fry them till golden brown on medium to high flame.
  • Take out the fried Gulab jamun from the oil – Add into the sugar syrup – let it stay it for 2 hours to get the Gulab Jamun soft.
  • Serve it hot or refrigerate and serve it cold.
