The combination – chickpea & chicken – is the all-time favorite for many! The recipe is also locally called chicken Choley | Chicken Channa | Murgh Choley 😃

Ingredients

  • Preparing Tomato Onion Paste
  • 1 pc Tomato

  • 1 pc Onion

  • 2 pc Green chili

  • 3 tbsp Parsley

  • 1 tbsp Water

  • Preparing Chickpea Chicken
  • 1/3 cup Cooking oil

  • 1 pc Onion

  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds

  • 3 pc Cardamom

  • 4 pc Cloves

  • 1 pc Cinnamon stick

  • 1/2 kg Chicken

  • 1 tbsp Ginger garlic

  • 1/2 tsp Salt

  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder

  • 1 tbsp Coriander powder

  • 1 tsp Red chili powder

  • 1 tsp Cumin powder

  • 3/4 cup Water

  • 1+1/2 cup Chickpea boiled

  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper powder

  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice

  • 1 tsp Garam masala powder

  • 1 tbsp Ginger

  • 2 pc Green chili

  • 2 tbsp Parsley

Directions

  • Preparing Tomato Onion Paste
  • Into a blender take diced tomatoes 1 pc, chopped onion 1 pc, green chili 2 pc, freshly chopped parsley 2 tbsp, water 1 tbsp – blend it into tomato-onion paste and keep it aside for later use.
  • Preparing Chickpea Chicken
  • Into heating pot, adds cooking oil 1/3 cup, sliced onion 1 pc – fry the onions till light brown.
  • Add green cardamom 4 pods, cinnamon stick 1 pc, cloves 4 pc, cumin seeds 1 tsp and stir well.
  • Add chicken 1/2 kg – cook it on medium to high heat till color changes.
  • Add ginger garlic 1 tbsp – fry it for 5 minutes on medium to high heat.
  • Add blended tomato-onion paste – let it cook for 8-10 minutes on medium heat, then add salt 1/2 tsp, turmeric powder 1/2 tsp, coriander powder 1 tbsp, red chili powder 1 tsp, cumin powder 1 tsp and let it cook for 2-3 minutes on medium heat.
  • Pour water 3/4 cup (remaining water from boiled chickpea) then cover and let it cook for about 6-7 minutes on medium heat.
  • Add boiled chickpeas 1+1/2 cups, then cover with a lid and let it cook for about 7-8 minutes on medium heat.
  • Add black pepper powder 1/2 tsp, lemon juice 1 tbsp, garam masala powder 1 tsp, julienned ginger 1 tbsp, green chili slits 2 pc, freshly chopped parsley 2 tbsp and stir well.
  • The chickpea chicken is ready – take it out into a bowl and serve it hot with rice or chapati.

Notes

  • You can use boneless chicken also for this recipe.
  • You can also use plain water instead of the remaining water from boiled chickpeas.
  • Before boiling the chickpea – soak it in water overnight.
