Chicken White Karahi or Kadai white chicken is a famous curry originating from the Indian subcontinent. They are called karahi which is the type of pot they were made in traditionally. Very well known in the north Indian and Pakistan regions, they contain a plethora of ingredients and spices especially that makes your mouth crave for more immediately after it touches your tongue.

Learn how to make chicken white karahi, a spicy – creamy, and delicious curry dish that’s an awesome recipe for special occasions or hosting guests at home.

Ingredients

  • Preparing the Curd Mix
  • 3/4 cup Yogurt Whisked

  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper powder

  • 1 tsp Cumin powder

  • 1 tsp Coriander powder

  • Preparing The Chicken
  • 500 gm Chicken

  • 3 tbsp Cooking oil

  • 1 tbsp Butter

  • 1 pc Bay leaf

  • 1 pc Cloves

  • 4 pod Green cardamom

  • 1 pc Cinnamon stick

  • 1 tbsp Ginger garlic

  • 4 pc Green chilies chopped

  • 1 tsp Salt (or according to diet)

  • 1/2 tsp Garam masala powder

  • 4 tbsp Fresh cream

  • 5 pc Green chili

Directions

  • Preparing the Curd Mix
  • Into a bowl add whisked yogurt 3/4 cup, black pepper powder 1/2 tsp, cumin powder 1 tsp, coriander powder 1 tsp and mix everything properly and keep this curd mix aside for later use.
  • Preparing The Chicken
  • In a heating pot, add cooking oil 3 tbsp, unsalted butter 1 tbsp, cinnamon stick 1 inch, green cardamom 4 pc, whole bay leaf 1 pc, chicken 500 gm and fry it for 5-6 minutes on medium to high heat.
  • Add ginger-garlic paste 1 tbsp, chopped green chili 4 pc, salt 1 tsp, and stir it well.
  • Cover with lid and cook it for 5-6 minutes on medium to high heat.
  • Add the prepared curd mix and stir well.
  • After, cover with a lid and cook 10-12 minutes on medium to high heat.
  • Open the lid and add garam masala powder 1/2 tsp, whole green chili 4 pc, sour cream 4 tbsp after this stir well and cook it for last 5 minutes on high heat.
  • Take out the chicken and garnish it with sesame seeds and serve.

Notes

  • Instead of using sour cream, you can use fresh cream and lemon juice.
  • Feel free to skip the green chilies if you are making for kids.
  • You can add some chicken broth to make extra gravy.
