The chicken is marinated in spices and Indian masala along with yogurt for added taste. And fried at a constant heat till each side is perfectly cooked. The key difference between chicken tikka and other chicken dishes like tandoori chicken is that chicken tikkas are boneless small pieces of chicken skewered into a stick while tandoori chickens are wholly marinated overnight in masala. Most of them are prepared with different spices as well.

No Tandoor, No oven ?! Don’t worry, Make this Delicious Restaurant style Chicken Tikka at home now – With a few masala’s and side ingredients – and a whole lot of tastiness when it’s all cooked!


  • 2 tsp Cooking Oil

  • 500 gm Chicken

  • 1 tsp Crushed ginger garlic

  • 1/2 tsp Red chili powder

  • 1/4 tsp Black pepper powder

  • 1 tsp Lemon juice

  • 1/2 tsp Salt (or according to diet)

  • 1 pc Capsicum

  • 1 large Onion

  • 3 tbsp Curd

  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder

  • 1/4 tsp Garam masala

  • 2 tbsp Cooking Oil


  • In a bowl take boneless chicken 500 gm, add crushed ginger garlic 1 tsp, red chili powder 1/2 tsp, black pepper powder 1/4 tsp, lemon juice 1 tsp, salt 1/2 tsp (or to taste) – mix it well – keep chicken marinated for 20 minutes.
  • After 20 minutes, into the marinated chicken add capsicum 1 large cut into cubes, onion 1 large cut into cubes, garam masala powder 1/4 tsp, turmeric powder 1/4 tsp, cooking oil 2 tsp, whisked yogurt 3 tbsp – mix everything well – keep the mixture marinated for 1 hour
  • Now take the skewers and start adding the chicken and vegetable pieces into it (Arrange chicken and vegetable one after the other into the skewer).
  • In a heating fry pan, add cooking oil 2 tbsp and let it heat for a minute before adding skewers with marinated chicken & vegetables to fry.
  • First, fry each side of the chicken tikka for 2 minutes on high flame.
  • Then, turn the flame to medium and cook each side of the chicken until it’s well cooked.
  • Turn sides of the chicken and fry all the sides of the chicken well.
  • Once its well cooked – Take out the Chicken Tikka – & serve it Hot with Naan or Rice !
