Why is boneless chicken used in Jalfrezi?

Besides being the easiest and common way of making chicken jalfrezi, it blends well with the style of the cuisine. Since large pieces of tomatoes, onions, etc are present in the curry, it makes the entire dish consumable without the extra effort of removing the bones while eating. Of course, it all boils down to personal preferences, you may try this dish with boned chicken as well, just make sure to marinate it well.

Ingredients

  • Marinating The Chicken
  • 4 tbsp Curd

  • 1/2 tbsp Ginger garlic

  • 1/2 tsp Salt

  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice

  • 1 tsp Red chili powder

  • 500 gm Chicken boneless

  • Preparing Chicken Jalfrezi
  • 3 tbsp Cooking oil

  • 2 pc Onion

  • 2 tsp Ginger garlic

  • 1 pc Tomato

  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder

  • 1 tsp Coriander powder

  • 1 tsp Cumin powder

  • 1/2 tsp Salt

  • 1/2 pc Capsicum slices

  • 1 pc Tomato slices

  • 1 pc Onion slices

  • 3 pc Green chili slits

Directions

  • Marinating the Chicken
  • Into a bowl, take curd 4 tbsp, ginger garlic 1/2 tbsp, salt 1/2 tsp, red chili powder 1 tsp, lemon juice 1 tbsp – mix everything properly.
  • Take boneless chicken 500 gm cut into bite-sized pieces – add the already prepared curd mixture and mix well, let it marinate for about half an hour.
  • Preparing Chicken Jalfrezi
  • Into a heating frying pan/wok, add cooking oil 3 tbsp, chopped onion 2 pc – let it fry until onion is light golden on high heat.
  • Add ginger garlic 2 tsp – cook until raw smell goes off.
  • Add chopped tomato 1 pc and let it cook for about 3-4 minutes on medium to high heat.
  • After, add turmeric powder 1/2 tsp, coriander powder 1 tsp, cumin powder 1 tsp, salt 1/2 tsp – cook for about 2-3 minutes on medium heat until the oil gets separate.
  • Add the marinated chicken and roast/cook for about 12-15 minutes on medium heat – stir frequently in between.
  • After, add sliced capsicum 1/2 pc, sliced tomato 1 pc, sliced onion 1 pc, green chili slits 3 pc and stir fry the vegetables for about 2-3 minutes on high heat.
  • The chicken jalfrezi is ready to serve.

Notes

  • Remove the seeds from the tomato, before slicing the tomatoes.
  • Use salt based on your diet and taste requirements.
  • You can use any other color of capsicum for this recipe.
