“Do Pyaza” – meaning – using onions in 2 batches/2 times, the recipe chicken do pyaza is cooked with chicken and onions as the main ingredient – onion petals are used to bring that unique taste to this recipe.

Ingredients

  • Marinating The Chicken
  • 600 gm Chicken

  • 1 tsp Salt

  • 1 tsp Red chili powder

  • 1 tbsp Ginger garlic

  • 1/2 tbsp Lemon juice

  • Preparing Curd Mix
  • 1/2 cup Curd

  • 1 tsp Red chili powder

  • 1/2 tbsp Coriander powder

  • 1 tsp Cumin powder

  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder

  • Preparing Chicken Do Pyaza
  • 3 tbsp Cooking oil

  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds

  • 5 Cloves

  • 2 Onion

  • 1 tbsp Ginger garlic

  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder

  • 1 cup Tomato

  • 1/4 tsp Salt

  • 3/4 cup Water

  • 1 Onion petals medium

  • 2 Red chili

  • 2 Green chili

  • 1 tsp Garam masala

  • 1 tbsp Parsley

Directions

  • Marinating The Chicken
  • In a bowl take chicken 600 gm, salt 1 tsp, red chili powder 1 tsp, lemon juice 1/2 tbsp, ginger garlic 1 tbsp – mix the chicken with the spices well and marinate the chicken for 20 minutes.
  • Preparing Curd Mix
  • In a bowl, take whisked curd 1/2 cup, red chili powder 1 tsp, cumin powder 1 tsp, coriander powder 1/2 tbsp, turmeric powder 1 tsp – stir everything well and keep this curd mix aside.
  • Preparing Chicken Do Pyaza
  • In a heating pot, add cooking oil 3 tbsp, cumin seeds 1 tsp, cloves 5 pc, chopped onion 2 medium – cook till the onions become translucent.
  • After, add ginger garlic 1 tbsp, turmeric powder 1/2 tsp, and let it cook for 6-7 minutes on medium to high heat.
  • Into it, add chopped tomatoes 1 cup, salt 1/4 tsp, and cook the tomatoes for about 3-4 minutes on medium heat until oil releases.
  • After, add the earlier prepared curd mix into it – cook for about 4-5 minutes on low to medium heat.
  • Then, add marinated chicken into it – cook for about 10 minutes on medium heat.
  • After, add water 3/4 cup – cover and cook for about 15 minutes on low – medium heat.
  • After 15 minutes, open the lid and add petals of 1 whole pc onion, dry red chili 2 pc, green chili slits 2 pc, and give it a quick stir.
  • Add garam masala 1 tsp and cook for the last 5 minutes on medium-high heat, then add freshly chopped parsley 1 tbsp.
  • The Chicken Do Pyaza is ready to be served.

  • You can marinate the chicken overnight.
  • Adjust the salt according to your taste and flavor.
  • If you are making it for kids avoid the red chili powder.
